Questions about doing business with WeDoCampstoves.com...

  And now, The Answers...

Q: Why choose a canister stove (butane or other bottled gas) vs. a liquid fuel stove?
A:  Oh Boy... That's a great question with many answers.  Some of the answers start to boarder on opinion, but here's what WeDoCampstoves.com's take is on that question:  A canister stove has its own set of advantages and so does the liquid fuel stove.  Let's start to explore some of them.

Canister Stove: Extremely convenient.  Quick set up and quick cooking heat.  This stove is ready at all times.  Canister stoves come in the tiniest of footprints.  These are the ones you   want to carry when weight and small size matter the most to you - The person carrying the stove in the backpack.  Some things to think about when using canister stoves: The stove works
best when the fuel canister is kept reasonably warm (not allowed to freeze), gas canister availability (where will you be camping/hiking), How many canisters do you need to take (carry) with you on your outing, partially full canisters - Do you carry and finish or take a new fresh one with you to be sure you have fuel for your outing (REMEMBER: responsible campers / hikers NEVER leave an empty canister in the field!).

Liquid Fuel: The camper's workhorse.  These stoves provide a great hot flame for cooking your meal or just boiling water.  Most stoves offer a means to burn multiple fuels (some, like optimus require no reconfiguration).  The multifuel capability will be useful, possibly, when traveling abroad.  Most (but not all) prove a means for reducing the heat for simmering and slow
cooking (a real plus).  Fuel bottles can be refilled during the outing and always before each outing (you never need to head out with a partial fuel tank).  Most liquid fuel stoves offer a broad and stable work surface (OK, I know we're not talking about your nice range top at home, but we don't camp at home... Do we?) that makes it a bit easier when preparing a larger group meal (Ever dump your group's pot of pasta on the ground at the campsite?  Not good for the campers - Very good for the Bears, However!).

This is a great topic for debate and we welcome your ideas and views.  We'll add new ideas to this FAQ if and when presented with them.

A great way to get this question solved is to own at least one of each type of stove and to live with it for awhile (did you expect us to recommend something different?).  You will them understand, at a user's level, the advantages to each type of stove.

Q: I remember Optimus products that were Red...  What is the Green product markings all about?
A: Optimus has recently decided to show Green product markings that reflect their commitment to the outdoor enthusiasts and also to align with the company's eco-friendly policies.  When you think OPTIMUS, think GREEN!

Q: Who is Optimus?
A:  Optimus has manufactured outdoor stoves in Sweden since 1899. Our stoves and accessories are designed with 107 years of experience combined with a burning passion for outdoor cooking. We are proud of the products we offer and in choosing an Optimus stove you will find the perfect tool for preparing the next moment of peace that is so unique to outdoor cooking.

Q: Who is GSI ?
A: GSI Outdoors is in the business of making cookware and dining products that adapt the comforts of home to active outdoor lifestyles at the campsite, base camp and anywhere in between. In 1985, brothers Don and Ian Scott and sister Kathy started the company in San Diego and then moved to Spokane, Washington in 1995, where they have been ever since. In 2001, GSI Outdoors started distributing outdoor related gifts under the name of Outside Inside. What began as a small distribution company selling blue enamel tableware has expanded into the design, manufacturing, sales and marketing of an innovative array of outdoor cookware and a whole range of eating and drinking products that are technical, innovative andfun. GSI Outdoors products are distributed worldwide.

Q: Does We Do Campstoves ship Gas Canisters to Customers?
A:We Do Campstoves has just begun shipment of Gas Canister products using the USPS Parcel Post ground service.  Shipping companies have strict regulations regarding the shipment of flamible gas products.  Pressurized Gas Canisters fall into this category.  The good news is that these products can safely be shipped to your door.

When you order one of the Gas Canister products that is carried by We Do Campstoves, the gas canister portion of your order will be shipped using USPS Parcel Post service.  The remainder of your order is likely to be shipped via UPS.

At this time, no more than two (2) gas canisters may be placed into a shipping container.  This is due to USPS gas volume limitations.  If you require more canisters, we will break your order into multiple shipping containers for the purposes of keeping the volume of gas under the maximum allowed volume.   There will be a $6.00 per gas canister shipping container fee added to your order to cover shipping charges for gas canisters.  See also our Shipping and Terms page for other details.

Q: Why just campstoves?
A: The WeDoCampstoves concept was conceived after realizing that we would be able to share our experience with the hiking and camping groups that exist outside our local community. WeDoCampstoves focuses on a core set of set of Campstove and Cooking related products.  This product focus allows for a better customer experince when dealing with WeDoCampstoves.
