JetBoil PCS / JavaKit Saves The Daya true story submitted by William G. - Tallmadge, OH - September, 2008 I originally bought the Jetboil PCS to put with my big emergency pack. I was looking for a reliable, lightweight, compact stove and the Jetboil had great reviews. After I received the stove I tested it out a few times and realized I loved cooking with it!! I would find myself waking up at home on Saturday mornings and using the Jetboil to make coffee, rinsing out the jetboil and using it to make my oatmeal. Instead being part of the big emergency pack, the Jetboil is now part of my "tiny little bag of very important little things". The tiny little bag just has the essentails, such as extra packs of smokes, extra lighter, chargers for all my little electronic equipment, deoderant, toothbrush, raincoat and now a rubbermaid container of coffee. I clip the bag to my Jetboil with a carabiner and it is always in my trunk just in case I need it.
Over the weekend the Jetboil got a pretty good workout. My brother asked me to crew for him at a regatta on his Highlander sail boat. Hannah was running up the coast and pushed a front up over Ohio giving us gusts of 15-20 knots. We were rounding a point to get out to the committee boat when the wind shifted hard and pushed the boat over into the water. No one was hurt and we were able to right to boat, but it had taken on far too much water to bail it out. We had to wait for a tow back to the docks. While we were still in the water I noticed my little pack floating by. I grabbed the Jetboil, and decided to give it the ultimate boater test. Water poured out as I unpacked the Jetboil, and I did not think there was a chance any stove would work in these conditions. Three clicks on the igniter and I heard that wonderful sound of the Jetboil firing. Six minutes later I was passing the cup around to my mates so they could have some coffee as well. The Jetboil exceeded all my expectations, and you can market it to boaters with good conscience. I can attest that it can make coffee in the water in 20 knot gusts. I never go anywhere without my Jetboil, and I am confident now that wherever I go my Jetboil Coffee Kit will work when I need it.
